#17 Kentucky vs Middle Tennessee State Preview

The Cats look to get back to winning ways on senior day in Lexington KY Saturday morning.  After a rough couple weeks UK is finally ready to get their 8th win of the season.  Middle Tennessee is a seven-win team so far this season so the Cats are going to have to come out ready to play.

MTSU Offense

MTSU is averaging 30.4 points per game.  They are lead by their red shirt senior quarterback Brent Stockwell.  Stockwell has thrown for 2298 yards and 21 touchdowns with only 5 interceptions on the season.  He also has two rushing touchdowns on the season making him a 3rd or 4th and short threat.  They have three running back that share time in Chaton Mobley, Terelle West, and Tavares Thomas.  MTSU will run the ball but expect them to mostly come out throwing the ball all over the field.  The Offensive line gives up on average about three sacks a game and they will need to be at their best to keep Allen out of the backfield.  This will be a battle between the receivers and Kentucky’s defensive backs.

MTSU Defense

The MTSU gives up 26.5 points per game.  They give up an average of 165 yards a game on the ground and 241.9 yards a game through the air.  Expect MTSU to follow suit of Kentucky’s recent opponents and fill the box and force UK to beat them through the air.  With 26 Sacks on the year expect them to come out early and try to get in Terry Wilson Jr.’s head.  If Kentucky comes into the game with a good game plan they should be able to move the ball on this MTSU team.

Kentucky needs to be able to move the ball Offensively!  The defense has been playing less effectively in recent weeks but is still good enough to hold this MTSU team to under 20 points.   The Cats are going to need to be able to pass the ball effectively and get their run game going so they can keep their defense off the field.  This is a game that Kentucky can lose if they do come out looking like first half of the season UK.  Dropped passes and bad sacks can not happen this game if Kentucky is expecting to leave Saturday with win number 8.  Allen should have a feast on Saturday getting into the backfield at will.

Kentucky Seniors

Here is a list of all the seniors that will be playing their final home game on Saturday.

Prediction:  I honestly hope that this team comes out ready to play on Saturday.  Looking at that list of seniors makes me a little sad that we are losing all of that talent.  These seniors deserve to have a big game one last time in front of their home crowd.  Kentucky is going to right the ship and come out on Saturday and man handle the Blue Raiders.  Kentucky 41 MTSU 21, with a couple late cheap touchdowns.
